WELCOME TO LOCK OUT our first client newsletter for the 2009 year. We hope to bring you plenty of items of interest and we also welcome customer feedback and contributions from you, our valued clients.
FINANCIAL CRISIS AFFECTS SECURITY
With the current world financial crisis, security issues are arising more and more as people are becoming desperate for survival. Over the past months we have seen an increase in break and enter offences with some local businesses and also private residential clients suffering unwanted losses from thieves targeting their premises. Unfortunately it doesnt appear that this trend is going to cease as people turn to crime to support themselves and their families financially in these trying times. Dont let yourself or your business suffer, make sure you secure your premises every day/night when you leave. Take an extra 5 minutes to ensure that all windows and doors are secure and that anything of value is locked away in a secure safe. Avoid leaving any money at all on your premises and most importantly, when you leave make sure you turn your alarm system on. You would be surprised how many phone calls we make or businesses that we attend to each night to turn their alarms on as staff etc. have forgotten to. It is even scarier if we dont hold keys and clients say Dont worry about it tonight, we will leave it turned off!
Please dont think Ah, it will never happen to me because there is nothing more traumatic than turning up to work the next day to find your safe, computers etc all missing because your alarm system wasnt switched on. That extra 5 minutes you take at night when closing may save you a lot of heartache and weeks/months of work trying to get your business back on track after a break enter & steal.
Unfortunately in this day and age, we are all vulnerable. Thieves dont care who they hit and who they hurt, as long as they achieve what they set out to, so the more care that you can take to avoid any security risks the better.
SECURITY HINT: You would be surprised how frequently we attend alarms resulting from an inadvertent activation by an employee or a family member.
If your alarm system is activated unintentionally, please make sure you contact us immediately. If after an unintentional activation your telephone rings, please take the call regardless of your business hours, it could be our patrolman attempting to contact you. It may save you time, questioning and the unnecessary cost for a Security Patrol Response. If you are going to be onsite Out of hours, please notify us also.
ALARM PROCEDURE AND CONTACT CALL OUTS.
Being the first newsletter of the year it is once again time to update our lists. As is quite often the case, employees cease working for you or promotions can change the procedures for alarm callouts and previous key holders are no longer key holders etc etc.

Please note that in the event of a break and enter where the premises cannot be secured immediately, your key holders will be required to attend the site and wait until it can be secured. Alternately they must have authorisation to make the decision as to whether or not a static security guard needs to be employed at the site until such time as the site can be secured.
FROM THE FUNNY CORNER
· A couple drove down a country road for miles without saying a word to each other. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position. Further down the road they passed a barnyard full of mules, goats and pigs. The husband couldnt help himself and asked; Relatives of yours? to which the wife replied; Yep, in-laws!
· Some guy bought a new fridge for his house. To get rid of the old fridge, he put it in his front yard and hung a sign on it saying Free to good home, you want it you take it! For 3 days the fridge sat there without even one person looking twice at it. He eventually decided that people were un-trusting of his deal, it looked far too good to be true, so he changed the sign to read Fridge for sale .$50
The next day someone stole it!!
· Two old ladies were at a tenpin bowling alley. One was trying to teach the other how to bowl. First she says, you have to line your feet up with the centre pin, next roll the ball down the lane and try to knock down as many pins as you can, but DO NOT knock all of them down or they cheat you out of your second bowl!

SECURITY HINT: For security of your business premises always assign responsibility to one of your staff members, to ensure your premises are secured and the alarm (if fitted) is switched on every night before they leave. This may occur at the close of business or when the last person leaves the premises. You may be surprised to know that our Patrol Officers are called to attend to 5-10 premises every night that are either not secured and/or do not have their alarms switched on. This makes a thieves life easy, building open and unarmed, they have all the time they require.
